A CONTRACTOR WHO CALLS BACK AND SHOWS UP
Stump Grinding Northwest is open and working normal business hours per the Governor's proclamation that allows single owner businesses with no in-person, on-site public interaction, be exempt and allowed to provide services so long as proper social distancing and sanitation measures are established.
Jeff Taylor has been the owner/operator of Stump Grinding Northwest for 24 years. He is a lifelong resident of Seattle and has a degree in Urban Forestry from the University of Washington. He was an Eagle Scout and a varsity oarsman on the UW Rowing Team.
If you have a stump in your yard, there are good reasons to remove it...
Make room for new plantings
Eliminate possible host to infectious diseases endangering healthy trees
Reduce pest problems (i.e. carpenter ants and termites)
Eliminate unsightly stump and reclaim that portion of your yard
Remove a possible trip hazard
We do stump grinding only. We do not remove the tree itself, we only grind the remaining stump.
Not only did Jeff do a good job on the stump grinding, but he has a UW education in forestry and was willing to give me a couple recommendations on trees for our garden. It cost a bit more than we expected to have the stumps removed, but was well worth it. I highly recommend this company. — Janet S.
Prompt and courteous
Jeff was prompt and courteous and did a great job and cleanup was awesome! — Monte S.
Thanks so much. I do a lot of work on my house myself and it's usually painful to hire someone to do work for me. This was a very pleasant experience, so thank you! I might be pulling the tree out in the back southeast corner, and if I do, I'm calling you! — Kelly F.
Jeff was a pleasure to work with. He was great on the phone and in person. He showed up on time and was careful not to damage the shrubs surrounding the large nasty stump that needed removal. He even gave me some great landscaping suggestions! He's a reliable contractor and I will recommend him to everyone.
— Teri S.

Happy with the work
Jeff, Thanks for the great job in a difficult location. I appreciate that you adjusted the charge to the work. My reading is that it went easier and more quickly than we thought. I do not know many people needing stump grinding services, but if you want a reference, I would be happy to give you a good one. And I will tell my gardening person, Bill Wanless, how happy I am with the work. — Dave D.
Professional and kind
I left a message for Jeff on a Tuesday, he called me back two hours later and scheduled a bid for that Friday. I approved the completely reasonable (I feel like I got a bargain) bid, and he started work immediately. The holly stump I've been cursing for two years was gone in less that 30 minutes. Jeff is professional, kind, and gets the job done. As an added benefit, he gave me some advice about my maple and evergreen trees. Cannot recommend him enough. — Angela M.
Jeff Taylor did a great job. He was fast to provide an estimate and completed the work when promised. He also did the work at a fair price. I would highly recommend Jeff for any job and would definitely contract his services again. — Jeff P.

Jeff arranged to be at my house within a couple of hours of my call. He arrived promptly, gave me a reasonable estimate & proceeded to remove the stump. A very polite, prompt, professional businessman! I highly recommend Jeff Taylor & Stump Grinding Northwest to anyone. This is what I remember it was like to do business years ago when contractors really cared.
